Position Overview

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the design and technical quality of low voltage system projects across healthcare, education, and commercial environments. This role oversees engineering staff and project-level technical execution for systems including Rauland Nurse Call, Rauland School Critical Communications, EST Fire Alarm, Bosch Intrusion, and integrated audio-visual systems.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership, ensuring projects are engineered efficiently, compliant with applicable codes and standards, and aligned with customer expectations and company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of system engineers, designers, and CAD operators

  • Assign engineering resources to projects based on scope, schedule, and skill set

  • Produce, provide, update and maintain Departmental backlog and work schedule (manloading report) with deliverable dates

  • Establish engineering standards, best practices, and documentation requirements

  • Conduct performance reviews and support professional development and training

  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex or high-risk projects from an Engineering perspective

System Design & Technical Oversight

  • Oversee system architecture, design, and documentation for:

    • Rauland Nurse Call and Clinical Communications Systems

    • Rauland School Safety & Critical Communications Systems

    • EST Fire Alarm Systems

    • Bosch Intrusion Detection Systems

    • Integrated Audio-Visual systems (paging, intercom, displays, control systems)

    • Professional Audio Systems

  • Review and approve drawings, submittals, calculations, and as-built documentation

  • Ensure designs comply with NFPA, NEC, UL, HCAI, local AHJ requirements, and manufacturer standards

  • Support value engineering efforts while maintaining performance and compliance

Project & Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with Project Management, Operations, Sales, and Field Teams

  • Participate in project kickoff meetings and major design reviews

  • Support pre-sales efforts with technical input, system concepts, and risk assessment

  • Assist with change management, RFI responses, and technical troubleshooting

  • Ensure smooth handoff from engineering to installation and commissioning teams

Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations

  • Drive standardization of design templates, workflows, and tools

  • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce rework

  • Stay current with manufacturer updates, certifications, and emerging technologies

Qualifications:

  • ​7+ years of experience in low voltage systems engineering or integration

  • 3+ years in a leadership or management role

  • Strong hands-on experience with:

    • Rauland Nurse Call systems

    • EST Fire Alarm systems

    • Bosch Intrusion systems

  • Working knowledge of audio-visual and integrated communication systems

  • Solid understanding of NFPA codes, NEC, and local AHJ requirements

  • Experience producing and reviewing technical drawings and submittals

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ​Manufacturer certifications (Rauland, EST, Bosch, AV manufacturers)

  • NICET certification (Fire Alarm Systems preferred)

  • Experience in healthcare and K–12 education environments

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and project management platforms

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field

Work Environment

  • Office environment, temperature-controlled

  • Work Location: Stockton, CA, with occasional visits to local job sites

  • Physical demands: Repetitive movement of hands and fingers, ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Travel required: minimal, no overnights
